Two Decades in UAE Enterprise Tech: What I’d Tell My Younger Self

I’ve shipped on stacks that don’t exist anymore, for clients across logistics, government, and higher education. The technology never was the differentiator — the ability to ask the right question in a requirements meeting was.

If I could tell my younger self one thing: learn to read a business process before you read a framework’s documentation. The engineers who become architects are the ones who can trace a KPI back to the three systems that produce it, not the ones who know the most syntax.

Twenty years on, I still spend more time in stakeholder conversations than in an IDE — and that ratio is exactly why the systems I’ve built are still running.
